Did you know that what we call mules, that which I'm wearing, are more specifically referred to as slides? You see, mules were popular as indoor shoes in the 18th century and were originally closed toe and open back, heeled of course. By the 20th century they became associated with prostitutes and not until Marilyn Monroe, in the 1950's, started rocking them did she clean up its bad rep. Then came the birth of the 'slide', an open toe variation of the mule, I imagine for ventilation purposes, which of course we all love much more. So, the moral behind this story is, just as in the 'Cerulean Sweater' scene in The Devil Wears Prada, there is history behind everything we wear, in all it's complexity and in this case, simplicity. Now whoever said fashion isn't educating should make reference and take note! Hope you all have an amazing rest of the week.

Stay Tuned,
XO
